Last week, Donna Skoda, Summit County’s Public Health Commissioner, stated that employees at long-term facilities often work at multiple locations, which could mean they are passing COVID-19 to different facilities.
On April 16, 2020, state officials provided data which showed that more than 10% of all COVID-19 cases in Ohio are in nursing homes and long-term care facilities. Nursing homes in Wayne County represent 73% of the county’s cases alone.
A spokesperson for Ohio Living Rockynol reported that seven residents of the Akron retirement community have died from COVID-19.
The State of Ohio recently announced that 13 Summit County nursing homes have confirmed cases of COVID-19 among residents or staff.
